2026 tax season — reconcile your 1099-K before April 15

Your 1099-K says $90,690. You actually earned $74,209.

Refunds, chargebacks, processing fees, and sales tax can make your 1099-K differ from the income you actually kept. TaxMatch helps reconcile the gap and generates a review worksheet.

The Problem

The 1099-K problem

Payment processors report your gross volume to the IRS. But that number includes refunds, chargebacks, fees, and sales tax — money you never kept. The result can be a 1099-K total that differs from your actual taxable income.

Frequently asked questions

Everything you need to know about 1099-K reconciliation and TaxMatch.

What is 1099-K reconciliation?
Your 1099-K reports gross payment volume — before refunds, fees, and taxes. Reconciliation maps the difference between that gross number and your actual taxable income. TaxMatch helps categorize common adjustments such as refunds, chargebacks, processing fees, and sales tax, then produces a clear worksheet for review.
Do I need a Shopify store?
No. TaxMatch works as a standalone web app. You can import transactions via CSV or connect PayPal/Stripe directly. Shopify integration is optional — if you have a Shopify store, you can also install TaxMatch as an embedded app for even tighter integration.
How does the 14-day free trial work?
Every plan includes a 14-day free trial. You get full access to all features in your chosen plan. If you don't subscribe before the trial ends, your account is paused until you pick a plan.
Is my financial data secure?
Absolutely. All processor credentials are encrypted with AES-256-GCM. Transaction data is stored encrypted in PostgreSQL on SOC 2 compliant infrastructure. All API calls use TLS. We never sell or share your data.
What payment processors are supported?
TaxMatch supports Shopify Payments, PayPal, and Stripe out of the box with automatic syncing. You can also import data from any processor using CSV upload. We are continuously adding new integrations.
Can my CPA access my data?
Yes. On Pro and Premium plans, you can invite your CPA or accountant to view your reconciliation data and download worksheets. They get read-only access to exactly what they need — nothing more.
What happens after my trial expires?
If your 14-day trial ends without selecting a paid plan, your account is paused. Your data is preserved — nothing is deleted. Once you subscribe to any plan, your account reactivates immediately with all your data intact.
What does TaxMatch check?
TaxMatch checks common reconciliation inputs such as refunds, chargebacks, processing fees, shipping, and sales tax. You should still review the worksheet with your CPA or tax professional before filing.
